Iraq benchmark report; Bush surge a failure

Washington, DC - Iraq has met only 3 out of 18 goals

August 31, 2007

(benchmarks) set by Congress, according to a draft leaked to The Washington Post by the military so the White House couldn't doctor it before its release.

The report, which the Post described as "strikingly negative", is due to be delivered to Congress on Tuesday, ahead of a pivotal report on Iraq by the U.S. military commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, and ambassador Ryan Crocker due by September 15.

"Overall," the report concludes, "key legislation has not been passed, violence remains high, and it is unclear whether the Iraqi government will spend $10 billion in reconstruction funds," as promised. While it makes no policy recommendations, the draft suggests that future administration assessments "would be more useful" if they backed up their judgments with more details and "provided data on broader measures of violence from all relevant U.S. agencies."
The Bush administration is scheduled to deliver a report on the war to Congress in mid-September, focusing on the Iraqi government's progress toward 18 security and political "benchmarks" lawmakers included in a $120 billion war-spending bill in May.

Pentagon Asks Congressional Auditors to Revise Iraq Benchmark Report Findings

Thursday, August 30, 2007

WASHINGTON — Stung by the bleak findings of a congressional audit of progress in Iraq, the Pentagon has asked that some of the negative assessments be revised.

Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said Thursday that after reviewing a draft of the Government Accountability Office report — which has not yet been made public — policy officials "made some factual corrections" and "offered some suggestions on a few of the actual grades" assigned by the GAO.

The GAO report was on track to conclude that at least 13 of the 18 benchmarks set to judge the Iraqi government's performance in the political and security arenas haven't been met.

"We have provided the GAO with information which we believe will lead them to conclude that a few of the benchmark grades should be upgraded from `not met' to `met,"' Morrell said. He declined to elaborate or to spell out which of the benchmark grades the Pentagon was disputing.

Bilderbergers Delight~Skull sells for $100 M

In these strange and bewildering times of war and human suffering the death's head is once more created as a work of art. This time it is done in platinum and diamonds instead of hand carved quartz like the ones from the Ancient Americas. It has been purchased by an undisclosed investment group, at least so they say.
It has been named "For The Love Of God" and flies in the face of folks who really do, as a blatent reminder of what is really important to the "Elite" on this planet.

US generals ‘will quit’ if Bush orders Iran attack

From The Sunday Times
February 25, 2007

SOME of America’s most senior military commanders are prepared to resign if the White House orders a military strike against Iran, according to highly placed defence and intelligence sources.

Tension in the Gulf region has raised fears that an attack on Iran is becoming increasingly likely before President George Bush leaves office. The Sunday Times has learnt that up to five generals and admirals are willing to resign rather than approve what they consider would be a reckless attack.

“There are four or five generals and admirals we know of who would resign if Bush ordered an attack on Iran,” a source with close ties to British intelligence said. “There is simply no stomach for it in the Pentagon, and a lot of people question whether such an attack would be effective or even possible.”

A British defence source confirmed that there were deep misgivings inside the Pentagon about a military strike. “All the generals are perfectly clear that they don’t have the military capacity to take Iran on in any meaningful fashion. Nobody wants to do it and it would be a matter of conscience for them.

A generals’ revolt on such a scale would be unprecedented. “American generals usually stay and fight until they get fired,” said a Pentagon source. Robert Gates, the defence secretary, has repeatedly warned against striking Iran and is believed to represent the view of his senior commanders.

West Pointer's increasingly leaving military service

Douglas MacArthur, Class of 1903

West Point, New York

“The powers in charge kept us in a perpetual state of fear – kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor – with the cry of grave national emergency. Always there has been some terrible evil to gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it by furnishing the exorbitant sums demanded. Yet, in retrospect, these disasters seem never to have happened, seem never to have been quite real.”

“Our country is now geared to an arms economy bred in an artificially induced psychosis of war hysteria and an incessant propaganda of fear.”

West Point Graduates Against The War

Here's Duhbya speaking to the graduates at West Point on 01 June 2002. In this speech he present's himself as the "Commander in Chief" and compares his college experience with famous past West Point graduates and tells them about extending peace by encouraging free and open societies on evey continent.
A speech which echoes the the sentiments of the PNAC and the Neoconservative agenda.

This war will take many turns we cannot predict. Yet I am certain of
this: Wherever we carry it, the American flag will stand not only for
our power, but for freedom.
(Applause.) Our nation's cause has always
been larger than our nation's defense. We fight, as we always fight,
for a just peace -- a peace that favors human liberty. We will defend
the peace against threats from terrorists and tyrants. We will
preserve the peace by building good relations among the great powers.
And we will extend the peace by encouraging free and open societies on
every continent.
Building this just peace is America's opportunity, and America's duty.
From this day forward, it is your challenge, as well, and we will meet
this challenge together. (Applause.) You will wear the uniform of a
great and unique country. America has no empire to extend or utopia to
establish. We wish for others only what we wish for ourselves --
safety from violence, the rewards of liberty, and the hope for a
better life.

West Point grads exit service at high rate

WASHINGTON -- Recent graduates of the US Military Academy at West Point are choosing to leave active duty at the highest rate in more than three decades, a sign to many military specialists that repeated tours in Iraq are prematurely driving out some of the Army's top young officers.

According to statistics compiled by West Point, of the 903 Army officers commissioned upon graduation in 2001, nearly 46 percent left the service last year -- 35 percent at the conclusion of their five years of required service, and another 11 percent over the next six months. And more than 54 percent of the 935 graduates in the class of 2000 had left active duty by this January, the statistics show.

No End In Sight

The first film of its kind to chronicle the reasons behind Iraq’s descent into guerilla war, warlord rule, criminality and anarchy, NO END IN SIGHT is a jaw-dropping, insider’s tale of wholesale incompetence, recklessness and venality. Based on over 200 hours of footage, the film provides a candid retelling of the events following the fall of Baghdad in 2003 by high ranking officials such as former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, Ambassador Barbara Bodine (in charge of Baghdad during the Spring of 2003), Lawrence Wilkerson, former Chief of Staff to Colin Powell, and General Jay Garner (in charge of the occupation of Iraq through May 2003) as well as Iraqi civilians, American soldiers, and prominent analysts. NO END IN SIGHT examines the manner in which the principal errors of U.S. policy – the use of insufficient troop levels, allowing the looting of Baghdad, the purging of professionals from the Iraqi government, and the disbanding of the Iraqi military – largely created the insurgency and chaos that engulf Iraq today. How did a group of men with little or no military experience, knowledge of the Arab world or personal experience in Iraq come to make such flagrantly debilitating decisions? NO END IN SIGHT dissects the people, issues and facts behind the Bush Administration’s decisions and their consequences on the ground to provide a powerful look into how arrogance and ignorance turned a military victory into a seemingly endless and deepening nightmare of a war.

Where is Toyota's ES3 100mpg (Eco Spirit Cubic)?

In 2002 Toyota came out with a prototype e-car that surpassed 100 mpg, in tests, and was advertized on Toyotas web site. There was an artical in The London Times on this car, and there were people trying to buy one, but no one could find anything out from Toyota. So there are a few of them around, that have been road tested, with excellent reports on performance and milage, but it is the Prius,which came on the market in 1997 that is on the market. It is a shame that yet another efficient car has dissappeared from the market at a time when we should be doing everything possible to reduce co2, and conserve energy. This is another example of what Al Gore is saying in his latest movie..."An Inconvenient Truth".

While the media has focussed its attention on hybrid technology, led by the Toyota Prius, auto engineers have been competing to develop so-called "3-liter cars." This appellation refers to a vehicle that consumes no more than three liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.

Toyota's ES3 (Eco Spirit cubic) ups the ante by reaching the 100km goal on less than 2.7 liters of diesel fuel (EC mode, measured by Toyota). That's well over 100 miles per gallon.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UPDATE: Aug 25, 2008 The above link is no longer there,so here is a link to Honest John who has done a revue on this car and affirms that it does indeed get over 100 mpg.
Honest John says
Good: Four-seater with the ability to do more than 100mpg and emit just 71g/km of CO2.
Bad: It's a concept car and this level of fuel-efficiency hasn't yet made it through to a production Toyota.
What's Good
Toyota's ES3 (Eco Spirit Cubic) prototype is probably the most efficient, environmentally friendly four-seater car yet built. With its aluminium and resin body the car weighs just 700kg and has a Cd value of 0.23. The engine is a turbocharged 1.4-litre direct-injection diesel engine combined with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The exhaust system includes a Diesel Particulate-NOx Reduction System and emissions conform to Euro IV for petrol engines. An idling stop mode automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle is stopped, and regenerative braking technology is included to achieve higher efficiency. While the use of improved Toyota Super Olefin Polymer and biodegradable plastic greatly improve recyclability. The key to the ES3's outstanding fuel economy of 104.6mpg (2.7 litres/100km) and CO2 emissions of 71g/km is a highly efficient powertrain, combined with a light and aerodynamic body. The main powetrain is a 1.4-litre, direct-injection, common-rail diesel with variable geometry turbocharger and charge-air intercooler, mated to a continuously variable transmission. The common-rail direct injection system is electronically controlled to deliver reduced emissions and lower noise and vibration levels. A newly developed CVT, with a torque converter, contributes to ES3 fuel efficiency. It also helps keep emissions low and adds to the enjoyable driving performance. A braking energy regenerating system is used to convert vehicle deceleration energy to electric energy for storage in a capacitor. The stored electric energy is used for auxiliary electric loads and for restarting the engine. This allows for reduced engine workload in generating the required volume of electricity, thus, providing further reduction in fuel consumption. The ES3 is very aerodynamic with a target drag coefficient of Cd0.23, despite its length of only 3.52 metres. The front features an optimised cooling intake and a special bumper configuration that flows smoothly to the body side and bottom. The roofline flows gently downward to the rear, while the rear sides narrow, forming a sheer back. The floor height is raised to increase the amount of airflow under the car and the underfloor surfaces have been smoothed to increase airflow speed. An raised rear floor provides great improvement of airflow convergence at the rear end of body. In addition, an optimally shaped rear under spoiler, bracket type door mirrors, flat wheel covers and the shape of the rocker covers all contribute to outstanding aerodynamics and exceptional stability at high speeds. Dimensions are: length 3,520mm; width 1,630mm; height 1,460mm. In simplified form, may become the Peugeot/Toyota joint venture basic car
Toyota's Diesel Particulate-NOx Reduction System (DPNR) uses new catalyst technology to bring diesel emissions down to Euro Step IV standards for gasoline-powered vehicles.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OK...Back to the past...G: ...zzzZZZ

Toyota took a multi-pronged approach to achieving efficiency.

Over 100 miles per gallon
First, the ES3 trims curb weight down to 700kg with its aluminum alloy frame, magnesium frame seats, lightweight polymers and other light-yet-strong materials.

Second it uses an aerodynamic form, measuring a drag coefficient of just Cd 0.23.

Third, its powertrain features Toyota's D-4D direct-injection common rail diesel engine with CVT (continuously variable transmission).

Ultra fuel efficient 1.4 liter D-4D direct injection-diesel common rail turbo engine with DPNR (Diesel Particulate-NOx Reduction System).

Adopting techniques from Toyota's hybrid success, the ES3 employs regenerative braking and "Stop & Go" power train management to turn the engine off when the vehicle is stationary.

As part of its total environmental effort, Toyota also carefully chooses materials that are recyclable and do not pose hazards. "Bio-plastic" interior furnishings are made of biodegradable plant materials, wire harnesses are PVC free, and many interior and exterior components such as the bumpers are made of TSOP (Toyota Super Olefin Polymer) which can be recycled to make new parts.

Levin Gives Cheney Reason To Smirk

by Ray McGovern

Never before have I felt such irk from a Cheney smirk — the one with which he confidently assured CBS’s Bob Schieffer on Sunday’s “Face the Nation” that the Democrats will continue to vote to fund the war without including serious restrictions.

Cheney referred approvingly to the fact that “Carl Levin, who’s chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, has indicated that they definitely do want to pass funding for the troops.”

Cheney expressed confidence that the Democrats will “not leave America’s fighting forces in harm’s way without the resources they need to defend themselves.” And yes, the vice president went on to reassure viewers, against all evidence to the contrary: “We are making progress.”

Operation Noble Resolve - Clyde Lewis Ground Zero Lounge in Portland

It took two years for Waxman to get an answer on Blackwater funding!

Henry Waxman: Who is paying for Blackwaters services?

The issue that put this case on Waxman’s radar was the labyrinth of subcontracts underpinning the Falluja mission. Since November 2004 Waxman has been trying to pin down who the Blackwater men were ultimately working for the day of the ambush. “For over eighteen months, the Defense Department wouldn’t even respond to my inquiry,” says Waxman. “When it finally replied last July, it didn’t even supply the breakdown I requested. In fact, it denied that private security contractors did any work at all under the [Pentagon’s contracting program]. We now know that isn’t true.” Waxman’s struggle to follow the money on this one contract involving powerful war contractors like KBR provides a graphic illustration of the secretive nature of the whole war contracting industry.

What is not in dispute regarding the Falluja incident is that Blackwater was working with a Kuwaiti business called Regency under a contract with the world’s largest food services company, Eurest Support Services. ESS is a subcontractor for KBR and another giant war contractor, Fluor, in Iraq under the Pentagon’s LOGCAP contracting program. One contract covering Blackwater’s Falluja mission indicated the mission was ultimately a subcontract with KBR. Last summer KBR denied this. Then ESS wrote Waxman to say the mission was conducted under Fluor’s contract with ESS. Fluor denied that, and the Pentagon told Waxman it didn’t know which company the mission was ultimately linked to. Waxman alleged that Blackwater and the other subcontractors were “adding significant markups” to their subcontracts for the same security services that Waxman believes were then charged to US taxpayers. “It’s remarkable that the world of contractors and subcontractors is so murky that we can’t even get to the bottom of this, let alone calculate how many millions of dollars taxpayers lose in each step of the subcontracting process,” says Waxman.

While it appeared for much of the February 7 hearing that the contract’s provenance would remain obscure, that changed when, at the end of the hearing, the Pentagon revealed that the original contractor was, in fact, KBR. In violation of military policy against LOGCAP contractors’ using private forces for security instead of US troops, KBR had entered into a subcontract with ESS that was protected by Blackwater; those costs were allegedly passed on to US taxpayers to the tune of $19.6 million. Blackwater said it billed ESS $2.3 million for its services, meaning a markup of more than $17 million was ultimately passed on to the government. Three weeks after the hearing, KBR told shareholders it may be forced to repay up to $400 million to the government as a result of an ongoing Army investigation.

It took more than two years for Waxman to get an answer to a simple question: Whom were US taxpayers paying for services? But, as the Falluja lawsuit shows, it is not just money at issue. It is human life.

Montebello Anti-SPP Demonstrations Aug. 20

From Montebello, Monday night...

The tear gas appears to have started around 5 :30 PM. By that time, much of the corporate media had left Montebello, and many of the demonstrators had left for Ottawa and Montreal.

‘They’re going to wait for the media to leave before they start to clear the demonstrators,’ my friend Kabir had remarked 20 minutes before. He’d called it.

Before this point, the entire affair had been reasonably mellow, a street party punctuated by a line of unmoving protestors in front of police. A Red Cross official I spoke to had noted that they had received few injuries by 5PM, six hours after the demonstration had started, although police had sprayed pepper-spray at the crowd on a few occasions.

BPA in plastic bottles linked to genetic damage

Bisphenol A is now deeply imbedded in the products of modern consumer society, not just as the building block for polycarbonate plastic (from which it then leaches as the plastic ages) but also in the manufacture of epoxy resins and other plastics, including polysulfone, alkylphenolic, polyalylate, polyester-styrene, and certain polyester resins.

Its uses don't end with the making of plastic. Bisphenol A has been used as an inert ingredient in pesticides (although in the US this has apparently been halted), as a fungicide, antioxidant, flame retardant, rubber chemical, and polyvinyl chloride stabilizer.

These uses create a myriad of exposures for people. Bisphenol A-based polycarbonate is used as a plastic coating for children's teeth to prevent cavities, as a coating in metal cans to prevent the metal from contact with food contents, as the plastic in food containers, refrigerator shelving, baby bottles, water bottles, returnable containers for juice, milk and water, micro-wave ovenware and eating utensils.

Other exposures result from BPA's use in "films, sheets, and laminations; reinforced pipes; floorings; watermain filters; enamels and vanishes; adhesives; artificial teeth; nail polish; compact discs; electric insulators; and as parts of automobiles, certain machines, tools, electrical appliances, and office automation instruments" (Takahashi and Oishi 2000).

BPA contamination is also widespread in the environment. For example, BPA can be measured in rivers and estuaries at concentrations that range from under 5 to over 1900 nanograms/liter. Sediment loading can also be significant, with levels ranging from under 5 to over 100 µg/kg (ppb) BPA is quite persistent as under normal conditions in the environment it does not readily degrade (Rippen 1999).

What this all means is that most of your life you are within arm's length or closer to bisphenol A. No wonder the debate over its toxicity is so intense.

Staging the Portland Nuclear Attack

Portland to Host Terrorism Drill

“NOBLE RESOLVE 07-2” Aug. 20 to 24
August 13, 2007 — Portland, Oregon

Citizens Warn of Established Pattern for Such Drills to go “live”

This is an urgent advisory notice from concerned citizens of Oregon and Washington about an upcoming U.S. Joint Forces Command emergency management exercise known as NOBLE RESOLVE 07-2 that will simulate terrorism or disaster scenarios in the Lower Columbia River Basin between Aug. 20th and Aug 24th, 2007.

NOBLE RESOLVE 07-2 was designed and will be directed by U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM and the Department of Homeland Security. We are aware of no public notice concerning this exercise, but preliminary investigation has revealed that Oregon National Guard officials and federal officials will conduct the drill. Details from official sources are minimal.

This advisory is to document our concerns, raise public awareness and urge citizen action based on the following facts:

1. NOBLE RESOLVE is a computer-based simulation of a large-scale emergency situation (e.g. earthquake, hurricane, tsunami, or terrorist attack with nuclear weapon) in order to train for managing all aspects of the emergency response through comprehensive software.

2. Military exercises such as NOBLE RESOLVE 07-2 have a recent history of coinciding with lethal “live” events. This occurred both at the start of Desert Storm in 1990 and on 9/11/01 when five or more major military or security exercises were in progress on the very day of the actual attacks. The same phenomenon occurred with the London Bombings of 7/7/05 during which a drill concerning multiple bomb attacks was being staged on that day.

3. Vice President Cheney, Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff and former Senator Rick Santorum have all warned of a new 9/11 attack this summer, but are giving no evidence in support. Chertoff based his prediction on a “gut feeling”.

4. The May 2007 Presidential Directive NSPD 51 (HSPD 20) addressing “continuity of government” in the event of a massive emergency, includes secret "annexes" which are pertinent additional documents. Some US Congressional Committee on Homeland Security members such as Rep. Peter DeFazio have written to formally request permission to review these secret "annexes" and have twice been denied access by the White House.

5. This particular exercise, NOBLE RESOLVE 07-2, includes one scenario involving an unaccounted for, "loose," ten kiloton nuclear weapon, exactly as Vice President Cheney hinted in recent interviews. Department of Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff claims he fears the same.

6. The plummeting support for the GOP has triggered comments from its members and analyses of its current political strategy that point to a new 9/11 attack as a contributing factor to GOP political salvation. Moreover, it appears that legends or back stories are being disseminated to support just such an event.

Transparency concerning NOBLE RESOLVE 07-2 is vital for the public safety of everyone in the Lower Columbia River Basin. We call on the planners, directors and participants in NOBLE RESOLVE 07-2 to be vigilant and to maintain transparency with respect to these military exercises. We also urge citizens and our elected officials to monitor the activities of participants connected with the exercises and alert authorities to any suspicious behavior. These exercises have an established pattern of becoming “live” events. (Please read references below.) We recommend that officials of the Ports of Astoria, Longview, Vancouver and Portland on the Lower Columbia River take extra care in their monitoring and examination of all shipping on the Lower Columbia River while NOBLE RESOLVE 07-2 is in progress. Finally, we urge all concerned to voice that concern in letters and calls to elected officials and civil servants requesting full transparency and citizen oversight

911~William Rodriquez and the Tower of Doom~

William Rodriguez meets with supporters outside the Lakewood Theater in Dallas last Thursday evening.

Additional Reporting By Nathan Diebenow
Associate Editor Of The Lone Star Iconoclast

Tuesday, August 14, 2007

DALLAS — For some, Sept. 11, 2001 feels like a lifetime ago; distant pain and mental distress, pushed into the background by an influx of nonsense aimed at keeping the un-inclined, reclined.

But to others, the images of Americans jumping from burning buildings, holding hands three at a time, are permanently soldered into the collective cortex. Not to mention the worldwide insanity that has spiraled outward ever since.

And to those present that day, 9/11 has become a permanent facet of their lives. Every day is Sept. 11. Every hour, the horror of 8:46 a.m. plays out over and over again.

One such individual is William Rodriguez, former custodian of some 20 years in the North Tower. He held the Master Key to the stairwell, and is credited with saving between 14 and 20 lives.

That day, he was the last living person to be pulled from the rubble. Surviving almost by miracle alone, and enduring a brief stint of homelessness in the tragedy’s wake, Rodriguez’s new job is touring the world, telling his tale.

Unfortunately for some, his tale varies quite a bit from what the President and his supporters would have the public believe. However, fortunately for those same individuals, his veneer is that of us all: a fallible man, subject to whim, ego, time and profile. Figurehead, one might say.

The real history of Duhbya's Ranch in Crawford

The Bush family homestead in Crawford is nothing more than an elaborate movie set. The house, built in 2000, was designed to be ready for Bush to step into - like a set awaiting an actor - during the 2000 presidential election. Not only was the "ranch" created in 2000 - so, essentially, was the "town" of Crawford! Before then only about 400 people lived in the area. The Crawford Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture were formed shortly after the ranch was finished. That "homey ole ranch house? It's actually a 10,000-square-foot single level mansion/compound. The original completion date was November 7 - election day 2000. In other words, the curtain went up on the set on schedule for "show time." The very timing of this event indicates that Bush was absolutely confident that the election would be successfully engineered in his favor.

So, in short, we have a "president" who, ON THE SAME DAY - November 7, 2000 - stole an election and had the last nail driven into a phony ranch set. The whole idea behind the ranch set,of course was so that the public could be treated to footage of Bush seeking a quiet "retreat" at the family ranch. Americans would thus assume that the ranch was a rooted family homestead or compound like the one Kennedy's had in Martha's Vineyard in November, 2000, he was merely walking onto a prepared set upon which the paint had barely dried, let alone even the barest of roots put down!

There are Liberals in Texas as well as anywhere else, and they knew of Dubya's evildoings as Governor of Texas. In December of 2000 they began publication of a weekly newspaper with a left wing view of the Bush administration. This excellent and informative publication was established and actually published in Clifton Texas, about 30 miles North of Crawford.

Feds pay $80,000 over anti-Bush T-shirts

Boston Globe August 16, 2007

CHARLESTON, W.Va. --A couple arrested at a rally after refusing to cover T-shirts that bore anti-President Bush slogans settled their lawsuit against the federal government for $80,000, the American Civil Liberties Union announced Thursday.

Nicole and Jeffery Rank of Corpus Christi, Texas, were handcuffed and removed from the July 4, 2004, rally at the state Capitol, where Bush gave a speech. A judge dismissed trespassing charges against them, and an order closing the case was filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Charleston.

"This settlement is a real victory not only for our clients but for the First Amendment," said Andrew Schneider, executive director of the ACLU of West Virginia. "As a result of the Ranks' courageous stand, public officials will think twice before they eject peaceful protesters from public events for exercising their right to dissent."

CalTech graduate student Virgil Griffith built a search tool that traces IP addresses of those who make Wikipedia changes.

Jake Appelbaum On November 17th, 2005, an anonymous Wikipedia user deleted 15 paragraphs from an article on e-voting machine-vendor Diebold, excising an entire section critical of the company's machines. While anonymous, such changes typically leave behind digital fingerprints offering hints about the contributor, such as the location of the computer used to make the edits.

In this case, the changes came from an IP address reserved for the corporate offices of Diebold itself. And it is far from an isolated case. A new data-mining service launched Monday traces millions of Wikipedia entries to their corporate sources, and for the first time puts comprehensive data behind longstanding suspicions of manipulation, which until now have surfaced only piecemeal in investigations of specific allegations.

Wikipedia Scanner -- the brainchild of Cal Tech computation and neural-systems graduate student Virgil Griffith -- offers users a searchable database that ties millions of anonymous Wikipedia edits to organizations where those edits apparently originated, by cross-referencing the edits with data on who owns the associated block of internet IP addresses.

Gonzales could get say in states' executions

Proposed rules would let the attorney general sign off on 'fast tracking' death penalty appeals.

By Richard B. Schmitt, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
August 14, 2007

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department is putting the final touches on regulations that could give Atty. Gen. Alberto R. Gonzales could get say in states' executions

Proposed rules would let the attorney general sign off on 'fast tracking' death penalty appeals.

By Richard B. Schmitt, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
August 14, 2007

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department is putting the final touches on regulations that could give Atty. Gen. Alberto R. Gonzales important new sway over death penalty cases in California and other states, including the power to shorten the time that death row inmates have to appeal convictions to federal courts.

The rules implement a little-noticed provision in last year's reauthorization of the Patriot Act that gives the attorney general the power to decide whether individual states are providing adequate counsel for defendants in death penalty cases. The authority has been held by federal judges.

GROUND ZERO

This series of photographs of the rubble before it was hauled away and sold to China shows that explosive charges with thermite was used to take down the towers. The picture of the core columns with the bottom columns still intact, but with angle cuts made through 5" thick steel says a lot more than all the denial that is going on without really saying why three buildings came down from fire damage for the first time in history...

I can see clearly now folks. Bring it on home

Where is the proof of the official 911 story

Believers of the Official Version of 9/11:

Where the Hell Is YOUR Proof?

Jesse, Editor - TvNewsLIES.org - October 2005

THE BACKGROUND

To this day, there has been no independent official inquiry into the attacks of September 11, 2001. The Kean Commission, with which most Americans are familiar, was based on the Bush/PNAC version of events. It was charged with probing the breakdown of intelligence prior to the attacks and making suggestions for improving communications among the competing agencies involved. The Commission, formed after more than a year of opposition by the Bush administration, did not…repeat...did NOT…investigate or report about the causes of the attacks.

Far more important – to this day there has not been a single piece of evidence presented to the public that corroborates the official government version of the most devastating attack in our history. Think about that. For more than four years, scores of credible experts have challenged the explanations offered by the Bush administration, and yet not a shred of evidence has been offered by the US government to support the official version of events they claim took place on that day.

Even more absurd is that fact that not a single official inquiry has attempted to respond to, discredit, or refute the questions that have been raised. On the contrary, both the American government and the complicit media have dealt with the every single challenge to the 9/11 explanations in two ways. They either totally ignore them or dismiss them out of hand as ridiculous conspiracy theories. Most of the well-researched and revealing findings by independent investigators are unknown to the vast majority of Americans.

Secret meetings for the North American Union in Quebec

Judicial Watch Seeks Access to North American Competitiveness Council Meetings under Federal Open Meetings Law

Jul 26, 2007

Commerce Secretary Gutierrez Urged to Comply with Federal Open Meetings Law during August 20 and 21 Security & Prosperity Partnership Meetings in Montebello, Quebec

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today notified Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez that it is seeking access to the meetings and records of the North American Competitiveness Council (NACC) under the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) – the federal open meetings law (5 U.S.C App. 2 §3(2)). Specifically, Judicial Watch seeks to attend and/or participate in meetings of the NACC and its U.S. component subcommittees, the next meeting of which is reportedly scheduled for August 20, 2007 in Montebello, Quebec, Canada.

Secretary Gutierrez launched the NACC, with his Mexican and Canadian counterparts, in June 2006. The NACC met on August 15, 2006 in Washington and again on February 23, 2007 in Ottawa, Canada. The NACC has provided over fifty (50) recommendations for action to Secretary Gutierrez and the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP).

To further its public interest mission, Judicial Watch previously submitted a request to attend NACC meeting with the organization designated by the Commerce Department as the “Secretariat” of the NACC comprised of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (jointly with the Council of the Americas). The Secretariat informed Judicial Watch that as a not-for-profit educational foundation, it was not eligible to participate in NACC meetings.

Judicial Watch’s notice to Secretary Gutierrez stresses the legal requirement for the NACC, and any U.S. component subcommittee(s), to obey the federal open meetings law and file a charter, publish timely notice of meetings in the Federal Register, allow interested parties to attend and participate in meetings, and provide access to committee records. Judicial Watch believes the NACC has failed to satisfy any of these statutory requirements.

Hackers reveal Cheneys Haliburton connections

Hackers found evidence of US Vice President Dick Cheney’s corruption

02.06.2004

Vice president of the USA Dick Cheney used the war in Iraq to gain profitable contracts for Halliburton company whose executive director he was before taking the office in the White House.
Unidentified hacker broke Pentagon’s mail programs and submitted the correspondence to the Time magazine. This mail is the evidence of the Vice President's involvement in Halliburton’s signing a number of contracts for restoration Iraqi oil industry.

According to the Guardian, the total sum of the contracts are $17 billion dollars.

Mr. Cheney who was the CEO of Halliburton for 5 years, said many times that he abandoned all his previous business contacts, but his published correspondence discredits this statement.

In the letter from March 5, 2003 unidentified Army official says that he sees no problems for "signing the contract (with Halliburton) as this matter has been settled with the Vice President’s office”. The Guardian wrote that the other possible contractors were not even considered.

Mr. Cheney’s spokesmen deny the connections between their boss and Halliburton and say that he completely abandoned business after going in politics. However, only in 2003 the US Vice President received $178,000 from the company as “delayed payments”.

The issue of fair allocation of contracts came under scrutiny of the US law-makers. The report of the House of Representatives on the government reform says that in the recent years the contracts at $107 billion were conducted with no open contest, and Ñ• of these contracts related to Iraq. Halliburton won the majority of them.

WTC Firefighters Chief Oreo Palmer radioed from the 78th floor

Chief Oreo Palmer radioed from the 78th floor of the South Tower

Reports from Firefighters at the Impact Zone Inside the South Tower

The New York Times revealed the existence of a 78-minute audiotape of radio transmissions of the New York Fire Department (FDNY), which proves that at least two firefighters reached the 78th floor sky lobby of the South Tower. 1

Excerpts From Firefighters' WTC Tape on 9/11

For well over a year, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey refused to release the audiotape of firefighters' communications from the World Trade Center during the September 11 attacks. In early November 2002, the tape was released to the New York Times, then to other unspecified "news outlets" (according to the Associated Press). To my knowledge, the NYT is the only outlet to post excerpts from the tape; no one has yet posted the entire thing.

Wiretap Whistle-Blower's Account

Room 641A is an alleged intercept facility operated by AT&T for the U.S. National Security Agency, beginning in 2003. Room 641A is located in the SBC Communications building at 611 Folsom Street, San Francisco, three floors of which were occupied by AT&T before SBC purchased AT&T and changed its name to AT&T. The room was referred to in internal AT&T documents as the SG3 [Study Group 3] Secure Room. It is fed by fiber optic lines from beam splitters installed in fiber optic trunks carrying Internet backbone traffic and, therefore, presumably has access to all Internet traffic that passes through the building.

AT&T Whistle-Blower's Evidence
05.17.06

Former AT&T technician Mark Klein is the key witness in the Electronic Frontier Foundation's class-action lawsuit against the company, which alleges that AT&T illegally cooperated in an illegal National Security Agency domestic-surveillance program.

In this recently surfaced statement, Klein details his discovery of an alleged surveillance operation in an AT&T office in San Francisco, and offers his interpretation of company documents that he believes support his case.

For its part, AT&T is asking a federal judge to keep those documents out of court, and to order the EFF to return them to the company. Here Wired News presents Klein's statement in its entirety, along with select pages from the AT&T documents.

Yesterday's ruling on NSA warrantless eavesdropping
The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday, by a 2-1 decision, vacated last August's Order from District Court Judge Anna Diggs Taylor which enjoined the Bush administration from eavesdropping without warrants. Judge Taylor had found that the President's NSA warrantless eavesdropping program violates both the Constitution as well as federal law (FISA).

Glenn is a great friend and an expert on the NSA program. He hammers Dave Rivkin (WH apologist) on the pitfalls of this immoral program and the civil rights violations the Bushies have carried out against this great country.

GG: You admit that this new law does not require them to say that the person they are listening in on has anything to do with terrorism. That requirement has been eliminated with this new law. You admit that, right? There’s no requirement at all…

Rivkin: That is correct…

The Pythagorean theory of music and color

This dude Pythagorius is known for his theorum on the right triangle which is the basis for trigonometry. We don't hear much mention of his philosophy relating to light and sound waves, but it sure makes sense. Maybe if we can play harmonious music, it will affect the vibrations on both lower and higher levels. Whoah...I feel like I'm back in the 1960's.

The Pythagoreans lived in a colony and were subjected to all kinds of abstinences and physical exercises as a preparation for the extraordinary intellectual work which they accomplished. They were deeply concerned with rhythm, with movement, with the analysis of the octave, and with other apparently irrelevant subjects which are studied at Fontainebleau. In some respects the parallel is indeed almost absurdly exact. Pythagoras himself was a Greek who spent many years in Eastern Persia and Afghanistan, and who on returning to Europe established a school for the study and teaching of music and mathematics. He was indeed the founder of European mathematics, of the European theory of music, and of European astronomy. He taught the doctrine of re-incarnation before Buddha; he laid the foundations and solved the crucial problems of pure geometry 200 years before Euclid was born; and he described the earth as a sphere and a planet revolving with the other planets round a 'central fire', 2,000 years before Copernicus.

The Pythagorean Theory of Music and Color

The pythagorean theorum of color and sound points out that all wave lengths behave in the same manner. Just as sound naturally breaks up into 8 notes with the last being double the vibrations of the first, light breaks up into 8 colors in the same manner. In the case of light this can be seen in the rainbow. Sometimes you can see a double rainbow, or even faintly one more.
Ouspenski in his book "IN Search Of The Miraculous" relates mathematics to the philosophy of vibrations and explains in those terms how the notes of the octave are formed, and the two shocks are introduced as the frequency of the waves increase. This all relates to the enneagram.
In music these shocks are the notes formed by the bugle, which forms only four notes, the last being double the vibrations of the first. The native Americans have an instrument that is a string stretched on a bow that they swing in the wind. It too plays these notes. The same notes that are heard in Taps.

Strange fire damage to cars near WTC on 911

toasted cars

Judy Wood and Morgan Reynolds

This page last updated, July 11, 2007

In the debate over toasted cars ignited by this article, some have argued that the wrecked vehicles on FDR drive were damaged at the WTC and were loaded up and transported and dumped on FDR drive for storage. First, there is no evidence that this was done. Second, it makes no sense to load up wrecks, transport them, only to dump them in a busy thoroughfare for storage. These wrecks would have had to be picked up yet again and transported again. If vehicles were truly moved from the WTC to FDR Drive, we wonder why WTC steel beams were not stacked up on FDR drive, as well, if it was such a good storage area. Third, governments may be stupid, but we doubt they could be this inefficient. If reported, it would have been a minor scandal. Fourth, we might be wrong about the facts here, but it looks like the motive for this speculation about shifting wrecks around lower Manhattan is to protect the official story or thermite story or other pet theories. We fail to see any other explanation for such a "forced" interpretation for these photographs. Fifth, marks on the roadway suggest that some of these vehicles were pushed to the side of the roadway until they could be removed.

Security and Prosperity Partnership meeting/North American Union shuts out Council of Canadians

RCMP, U.S. Army block public forum on the Security and Prosperity Partnership

The Council Of Canadians has been told it will not be allowed to rent a municipal community centre for a public forum it had planned to coincide with the next Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) summit in Montebello, Quebec on August 20 and 21.

The Municipality of Papineauville, which is about six kilometres from Montebello, has informed the Council of Canadians that the RCMP, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and the U.S. Army will not allow the municipality to rent the Centre Communautaire de Papineauville for a public forum on Sunday August 19, on the eve of the so-called Security and Prosperity Partnership Leaders Summit.

“It is deplorable that we are being prevented from bringing together a panel of writers, academics and parliamentarians to share their concerns about the Security and Prosperity Partnership with Canadians,” said Brent Patterson, director of organizing with the Council of Canadians. “Meanwhile, six kilometres away, corporate leaders from the United States, Mexico and Canada will have unimpeded access to our political leaders.”

More

Apparently what the Council of Canadians is experiencing here is trickled down from Bilderberger transparency as prescribed by the Bu$h administration.

On the US Chamber of Commerce web site on Feb. 23, 2007, the North American Competitiveness Council (NACC) gave Initial Recommendations for the priorities of the coming SPP meeting in Ontario. The SPP defined 300 "priorities" for action. Having 300 priorities is clearly too many. Moving forward, we saw we needed to focus the process and develop a real priority list.

This is a very open and transparent process. Literally hundreds of companies, sectoral associations, and local chambers of commerce have helped prepare our recommendations. No one has ever been turned away. This has made the process extremely robust, and it has only sharpened our focus on practical steps forward for North America.

The three governments established the NACC to collect guidance from the private sector. Members were charged with helping the governments focus their efforts by applying a cost-benefit analysis to the ideas on the table in order to "prioritize the priorities."

Dubya's Ear Revisited

Bush Ear Prompter Video

I recorded the Live Fox TV broadcast of June 5th, 2004, in Paris, France, that covered Bush and Jacques Chirac at a "D-Day" news conference - because, my mother is French, and the audio sounded odd. Due to an audio technical glitch at their meeting, Fox News broadcast the prompter's prerecorded voice telling Bush what to say..before Bush says it. The prompter's voice is also inadvertently broadcast to the entire room - watch the expression on Chiracs face. We did not post the entire video due to bandwidth constraints.

AEI will pay $10,000 for essay questioning IPCC Global warming report

Think Progress

On Friday, The Guardian reported that the American Enterprise Institute — which has received more than $1.6 million from ExxonMobil — was offering to pay global warming skeptics to speak out in an effort to push back on the new IPCC climate change study. The IPCC report states that it is “very likely” that man-made greenhouse gases were the main cause of the Earth’s recent warming trend.

The article reported that one American scientist — Steve Schroeder, a professor at Texas A&M university — turned down the offer citing fears that the report could easily be misused for political gain. “You wouldn’t know if some of the other authors might say nothing’s going to happen, that we should ignore it, or that it’s not our fault,” he said.

House Passes Bush’s FISA Law - American Civil Liberties Destroyed

Bush: "Congress must stay until surveillance law upgraded"

What Nancy Pelosi should say:

OK fine Duhbub, congress is on overtime. This will give them time to do the real screamers. The first thing on the agenda will be "Operation Fasttrack" so that multi-impeachment processes can be put into motion. Mainly You, Cheney, and Gonzo with others to follow. Holy Joe comes to mind, and Steney Hoyer is not far behind.

The Resident's Radio address which sounds to me like it is done with a voice synthesizer. Why is it that the only flawless speech we hear from him is on his weekly radio address? Yep...listen closely folks, it's digital Dubya?

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush said Friday that Congress must stay in session until it approves legislation modernizing a U.S. law governing eavesdropping on foreigners.

"So far the Democrats in Congress have not drafted a bill I can sign," Bush said at FBI headquarters, where he was meeting with counterterror and homeland security officials. "We've worked hard and in good faith with the Democrats to find a solution, but we are not going to put our national security at risk. Time is short."

The president said lawmakers cannot leave for their August recess this weekend as planned unless they "pass a bill that will give our intelligence community the tools they need to protect the United States."

Bush has the authority under the Constitution to call Congress back into session once it has recessed or adjourned, but White House spokeswoman Dana Perrino said talk of him doing that is premature.

"We cannot imagine that Congress would leave without fixing the problem," she said.

Kucinich Stands Against Drumbeat of War Targeting Iran

Dennis Kucinich votes no on Iran Sanction bills

Washington, Jul 31 - Today, Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) led a bipartisan group of Members of Congress in voting against H.R. 2347, the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act of 2007 and H.R. 957, the Amendments to the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996.

In the 110th Congress, the House of Representatives has passed several bills calling into question the actions of either the country or leaders of Iran with respect to their foreign or domestic policy. Congress debated an additional three bills yesterday designed with the same intent, with votes on two of those bills occurring today.

Some call him "Little big man", but I don't judge a man by his size. Kucinich is a unique politician who is actually concerned with truth, justice, and the American way. He is the first to iniate impeachment proceedings on Bush & Cheney and is an outspoken advocate of peace and diplomacy. If you are an advocate for nucking Iran or any other place on our planet, then read no further. Dennis Kuchinich is far bigger than that, and will not hesitate to tell you exactly what is on his mind about global warming or any issue that is on or off the table.

Yesterday, Kucinich was the only Member of Congress to express reservations about the series of bills relating to Iran that were before Congress this week.

“The continuous renewal of U.S. objections to Iran’s foreign and domestic policy can easily have the effect, intended or unintended, to beat the drum for war against Iran,” Kucinich said in a speech on the floor of the House yesterday.

“Let this Congress be warned that the belligerent Bush Administration will use these resolutions against this body. They will declare the passage of these resolutions as a green light to go to war with Iran.

“This House is better served by demanding sensible and responsible diplomatic foreign policy initiatives from the Bush Administration. We should demand that the Administration engage immediately in high-level diplomatic talks with Iran.

“By continuing to neglect this duty and engaging in the ongoing condemnation of Iran without opening the diplomatic channels, we are systemically destroying every available route to restoring peace and security in the Middle East,” Kucinich said.

Hillary: "Presidents never take the nuclear option off the table"

Now I'm not saying that I advocate Baraack Obama, the dude's becoming a politician. Not at all the fiery idealist that called for world peace and diplomacy as a solution that we heard in 2004 in the Democratic primaries. When I seen him on the telly at that time, I was amazed by his presentation of the truth....kinda like in the Indian way and reflecting truth and honesty which is quite high on my priority list.

But, Hillary Clinton is coming on like Bush-lite as an advocate for having a nuclear option on the table. Hillary also got on Obama for saying in a debate last week he would be willing to meet without preconditions the leaders of hostile nations Iran, Cuba, Syria, North Korea and Venezuela in his first year in office.

Clinton's position was that she would only meet those leaders after careful lower-level diplomacy bore fruit...Hello! Is this familiar rhetoric or what? This tells me that there will be a false flag, terrorist attack and she hopes to be shoed in through the Neoconservative methods of fear and co-erc'ion.

Obama, Clinton in new flap, over nuclear weapon

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama found himself embroiled in a new foreign policy flap with rival Hillary Clinton on Thursday, this time over the use of nuclear weapons.

Obama ruled out the use of nuclear weapons to go after al Qaeda or Taliban targets in Afghanistan or Pakistan, prompting Clinton to say presidents never take the nuclear option off the table, and extending their feud over whether Obama has enough experience to be elected president in November 2008.

Pakistan Disappeared

Have Pakistan’s security forces secretly detained hundreds of suspected terrorists? Reports are growing that the government is using the war on terror as an excuse for a general clampdown.

“We want our husbands and sons back”, laments one woman. Human Rights groups claim hundreds of people have been arrested and their detention officially denied. “The government has been using the war on terror as an excuse to suppress political opposition”. Relatives of the missing are now trying to use the courts to find out info about their loved ones.
