Amy Goodman interviews Harry Belafonte

There is a voice that has been around for a long time and heard in many places. It was heard in the early 1950's, about racial injustice. It was heard in the 1960's about an unjust war. It is being heard today along with many others on the internet, and public radio. The only chance that it will be seen on TV is PBS, and that is a slim one. He has allready had an encore, and here he is again. A mighty cool geezer...
  • Harry Belafonte
  • Forgeddaboudit!

Supreme Court...forgeddaboudit. The scales of justice can't be certified by The Department Of Weights And Measures. The Bush administration will probably create another department to oversee it. Oh well...didn't we allready know that the neocon's would get their way, and if they didn't, they would probably create a department to oversee the supreme court. All I can say is that we should all stand up and make all the noise we can, to make sure that these arragent crooks are booted out of office. Take note that Ranger Gordon Smith did what he could to affirm Alito. He will never stand up for the people in Oregon, only corporate interests, and the Neoconservative agenda.

    Excellence is not always obvious...

"I think anybody who doesn't think I'm smart enough to handle the job is underestimating."
You said it George and your eloquence is unsurpassed. I would be hard pressed to describe your qualifications for the highest office in United States.

    An ~encore~ for Harry

  • Day-O...Day-A-a-Oo...
  • Harry Belefonte

I found an artical about Harry's speech in front of the press conference on page 5 of our local paper...The Statesman Journal...aka statesman urinal. His name wasn't in the title of the artical, but was mentioned later. He is yet another person of note who is standing up against an administration that is unprecedented in the history of this country. There are a lot of folks out here who feel the same way. People who were once in the service, including officers and generals. People who held high offices in the CIA and FBI. People who were in high government positions. And way more people like you and me, who are wondering what in the world is going on with this administration, than we realise... Where is the truth?...Where is the honer?...Where is the accountability?...Why are there so many devious things going on that we can't possibly keep track of them?...Because?

A beautiful bunch of ripe banana...
Daylight come and me want to go home...
  • I see deadly black tarantula

  • The Song is about working all night loading bananas and wanting to go home before the dangerous tarantulas would come out right before dawn. They wanted "the Tally-man" to the count the bunches they had picked and loaded to make sure that there was a sufficicent amount so they could go home before they ran the risk of being bitten by a deadly tarantula.

Harry knew what he was talking about then, and he knows what he is talking about now. The only difference is that the social issues are much more extreme than we could ever imagine...

Walter Cronkite Still Tells It Like It Is

When we watched the CBS News during the Vietnam War we knew we were hearing a true report of what was going on. Walter cronkite was still at the helm, and the truth in reporting was not something that was controlled like it is today. I don't believe that there is a news channel, including PBS that can tell us that what they are reporting is,; as Cronkite would say
  • AND THAT'S THE WAY IT IS
  • Truth in reporting today is at the reporters peril, and has nothing to do with what they are blatantly told to keep out of the news by The Bush administration and by large corporations that virtually own many of the broadcast systems...

    Bush & Bin Laden

The world now associates the bin Laden name with Osama bin Laden, the prime suspect be hind the terror atrocities of Sept. 11. As President George W. Bush leads an intense international manhunt for Osama, few Americans realize that Osama's eldest brother, Salem, was one of Bush's first business partners.

  • Bush & Bin Laden

  • In June 1977, George W. Bush formed his own oil drilling company, Arbusto Energy, in Midland, Tex.

"Arbusto" actually means "shrub" in Spanish, but the Bush family interpreted it as "bush".
Salem bin Laden, a close friend of the Saudi King Fahd had "invested heavily in Bush's first business venture," according to The Daily Mail (U.K.).

Arbusto later became Bush Exploration, when Bush's father became vice president. As the company neared financial collapse in September 1984, it was merged with Spectrum 7 Energy Corp. in an effort to stay afloat.
"Like his father who made his fortune in the oil business with the money of others, George W. founded Arbusto with the financial backing of investors, including James R. Bath," said the late James Howard Hatfield, author of a "controversial biography," Fortunate Son: George W. Bush and the Mak ing of an American President.
Hatfield, 43, was found dead of an apparent prescription drug overdose in a hotel room in Springdale, Ark. on July 18, 2001. Police declined to investigate.

  • Hhmm

  • Bath found investors for Arbusto and "made his fortune" by investing the money of two BCCI-connected Saudi sheiks, Khalid bin Mahfouz and Salem bin Laden. Mahfouz was one of the richest men in the world and a controlling shareholder in BCCI.

Shortly after Bush's father was appointed director of the CIA, Salem bin Laden appointed Bath as his business representative in Texas. According to The Houston Chronicle, Salem bin Laden, heir to one of the largest building companies in the Middle East, signed a trust agreement appointing Bath as his Houston representative in 1976.

In 1978 Bath purchased Houston Gulf Airport on behalf of Salem bin Laden. When
bin Laden died in 1988, his interest in the airfield passed to bin Mahfouz.

    Lest We Forget

  • The O Word

  • I learned a new word this morning. It is from a French word for 'Purse', a coin exhibition, show or fair where coin dealers, issuers and collectors assemble to buy, sell or trade items of a numismatic nature. It also means a name for a foreign country's stock market....BOURSE....According to the articals found with a google search, it is a word that we will be hearing about, along with another one of those abreviated internet terms that I spend a lot of time on just to figure out exactly what they mean. This one is IOB...Iranian Oil Bourse.
In March 2006, Iran will take Iraq’s switch to the petroeuro to new heights by launching a third oil exchange. The Iranians have developed a petroeuro system for oil trade which, when enacted, will once again threaten U.S. dollar supremacy far greater than Iraq’s euro conversion. Called the Iran Oil Bourse, an exchange that only accepts the euro for oil sales would mean that the entire world could begin purchasing oil from any oil-producing nation with euros instead of dollars. Needless to mention, this will be a major blow to the US economy, and the current administration will probably attempt to bring Democracy to Iran, just like they did in Iraq.

  • IRANIAN OIL BOURSE

  • What in the world is M-3?

I looked it up, and all I get from it is that it is all of the money in the country?

M-1. Federal Reserve definition of the money supply that includes currency in the hands of the public plus all checkable deposits; the narrowest definition of the money supply.

M-2. Federal Reserve definition of the money supply that includes all of "M-1 plus money-market mutual fund balances, money-market deposits at savings institutions, and small savings deposits.

M-3. Federal Reserve definition of the money supply that includes all of M-2 plus large savings deposits.

Is it mere coincidence that the Fed will begin hiding M-3 the same month that Iran will launch its Iran Oil Bourse, or is there a direct threat to the stability of the U.S. dollar, the U.S. economy, and the U.S. standard of living? Are Americans being set up for a collapse in our economy that will make the Great Depression of the 1930’s look like a bounced check? If you cannot or will not make the value and stability of the U.S. currency of personal importance, if you are unwilling to demand from your elected officials, an immediate abolishment of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 and the fiat money scheme that the banking cartel has used for nearly a century now to keep our government and our people in a state of perpetual debt, than you are faced with but two alternatives, abject poverty, or invading Iran.

    Ranger Gordon Don't Know Jack

It looks like the Abramoff scandel reaches all the way to Oregon, and it of course involves our Republican senator. Now I'm not big on Democratic or Republican, but the Neoconservatives made a big deal of it. We should probably get to work and see if we can get an honest senator. It would certainly help the country if he could be replaced by a democrat. We are a long way from having a balanced representation in the house and senate. The Kabal in Washington has worked hard...Just ask them...to put so called Republicans in key positions. When George first spoke after 911 he said that we should all speak with one voice. Well...The Neocon's took it serioously, and we have heard ONE VOICE over and over on every one od their issues. I'll slow down here...I seem to be raving.
It is interesting that Ranger Gordon [ranger is the name given to any one who donates $200,000 to the Bush campaign] has taken money from Abramoff and some indian gaming casinos. It is also interesting that his trip to Scotland was paid for in the same way. It is also interesting that he returned it. But it doesn't mean much when you compare it to the money raised when Shrub visited Oregon to explain how we could take some kindling out of the forests to lessen fire danger. A record making $1,000,000, was raised for Gordo's re-election. A good return for Ranger Gordon. Gordo personally lobbied in Washington DC for the Healthy Forests Initiative.

    Democracy in Iraq?

Democracy begins at home. This administration is telling us that they are bringing Democracy to Iraq, at the same time as they are trampling the constitution, and instead of serving the people, they are serving big business interests. The smell from Washington DC is permiating the atmosphere with a stink that surpasses the industrial pollution that can be linked to the same source. They now say that we will be out of Iraq as soon as the Iraqi's can handle their own business. If this is true, why are they building a new embassy that will cost over one billion dollars. The largest and most fortified embassy in any country?

US forces are digging in for a long stay in IraqWhile George Bush was announcing an end to US efforts to “rebuild” Iraq’s oil industry and basic services this week, contracts were being awarded to build a $1 billion US

The Bush Administration is in the process of establishing a new embassy inBaghdad with regional offices throughout Iraq. The President has requested more than$1.3 billion in its FY2005 supplemental request for the logistical, security andconstruction costs associated with the embassy. In 2005, even before it is built and fullystaffed, this embassy is the largest worldwide in both staff size and budget. As of June28, 2004 sovereignty officially was transferred to the Iraqi interim government. At thesame time, the lines of U.S. government authority in Iraq were transferred from theDepartment of Defense (DoD), the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA), andAmbassador Bremer to the Department of State (DoS), the American Embassy inBaghdad, and the newly-confirmed Ambassador Negroponte. This report discusses reestablishingdiplomatic ties with Iraq and setting up the new embassy and regionalteams. It will be updated as changes occur.

Uh Ohh It's worse than I thought...

    HISTORICAL TIMES

Some people say that George W Bush will go down in history as the president that brought change to the Middle East. These same people, when they are old enough to know better, will be lucky to be able to afford a history book. A book that will probably take 65 volumes, or whatever their retirement age might be. These same people will be living with their relatives, or if they're lucky enough to survive without medicare, their relatives will be living with them. I heard enough current events on KPOG 620 AM last night to write several volumes. Some people will read this today, and some people will read it in the history books. The same books that proclaim the virtues of Ronald Reagon. Do you suppose that dubya will be carved in stone on Mt. Rushmore?

    POLITICS & GEEZERS

I was reading a stastistic about senior citiizens, and feel somewhat reenforced on my views about the current administration. I wont really say that it is about George Bush. It is about what Eisenhower called the Industrial War Complex. George like all presidents is nothing but a figure head, just not quite as competent as some. With the help of photo-ops, prompters, and ...I believe...an ear device, he manages to stumble through his script. Anyway...what I was reading was that about 70% of people over 65 do not like what is going on with our government. I haven't liked it since that I heard George junior was running for president. Well money talks...He won...And with the help of a tragedy, he won in 2004. "I'm Sorry" do you remember the web site that you could send your picture to...Well, this is the one I sent...
    SORRY

Anyhoo...Knowing that Geezers are pretty much disgusted by...or should I say...pretty damned sorry about the neoconservative agenda, I can ramble on without worrying about insulting the majority of any one who might read this obscure bit of raving about something that a lot of people are trying to do something about. Here is an artical by someone who definately qualifies as a geezer. You tell-em Andy...I stutter...
